27 Week Update

I've been meaning to do an update for ages, but this has been a really easy pregnancy. (I didn't say that! SHHHHHHHH!!!!) So I keep forgetting.

We are currently about 27 weeks pregnant with about 7-9 weeks left to go. I never got morning sickness, although I do get car sick. Allergies are beating me up, but that's normal in the spring. This past week I've begun having problems sleeping through the night, having to get up in the middle of the night again to make a potty run. The problem with that is that once I'm up, I'm awake and it takes an hour to go back to sleep. :(
The baby shower in Arlington is next weekend, so I'm excited about that. Mom ordered the crib bedding and it's in, so I can't wait to get a hold of it, it'd be better if we had the crib to put it in. :)
Elisabeth is very active at night and first thing in the morning. I guess school bores her because she's very quiet during class. I haven't noticed hiccups yet, but I figure we'll get there, eventually. The belly's getting pretty big, and the waddle is very pronounced, especially when I'm tired.
At our next dr appt next Friday, they're going to begin testing for preterm labor, it's called the fetal fibronectin test, basically it's a very good indicator of if you're going to go into labor within the next two weeks.
Overall, we're doing great :D

Bourbon What?

So, Jordan and I go to Hooter's a week or so ago, and we decide to text Chris and see if he wants to meet. The answer was a resounding yes.
We're all munching on our fried pickles, chit chatting, having a good time and Chris decides to order an adult beverage. No biggie. Until our "waitress" comes by and asks what he wants.
Chris:"I'd like a bourbon diet"
Her: "A what?"
Chris: "A bourbon diet."
Her: *very confused look on her face* "Is that a drink?"
The boys look at each other and, in unison, raise an eyebrow and look at me, I tell the girl, yes it's a drink.
Her: "Ok! Diet what? Diet Pepsi or Dr Pepper?"
Again, the brother looks at me with that look and tells her "Surprise me".
After she leaves, he looks at the both of us and we all crack up! We're thinking, no biggie, she'll go ask the bartender WTH her customer is talking about and then we'll go on with dinner, right? WRONG.
She comes back with a full-sized Diet Pepsi.
Somewhere in this mess, Jordan and I's meal shows up. We'd ordered all drumsticks and fries. The wings were mixed and the fries ice cold.
At this point, I decide pregnant chick is gonna get mouthy and ask for the manager.
When he comes over, we explain the wings ("Those are flappers!" Yes, I know, and the fries are cold), THEN we get to the drink. At this point she brings over a little plastic cup full of some kind of dipping sauce that no one asked for.
When I explain the drink situation, he immediately begins cracking up.
THE IDIOT HAD BROUGHT CHRIS A PEPSI AND A BOURBON DIPPING SAUCE!!!

Yes, we got a Bourbon Diet that was mostly Bourbon and a fair chunk taken off our bill. I told Chris to order a beer next time.

Elisabeth Isabelle

There is much pink and frills and bows in our future! Jordan's intuition was dead wrong, and Daniel Gabriel became Elisabeth Isabelle. Her name means "God's promise" or "God is my oath" and her first and middle name are the same, in different languages. It took us until last night to come up with a girl name. We had Isobel, Isabele, etc for a middle name, but couldn't come up with a first. I've loved Elizabeth my whole life, but it's Jordan's sister's middle name, so we had initially nixed the idea. But, I kept coming back to it, so the compromise was to change the "z" to an "s". The picture above was taken at the end of the ultrasound yesterday, she'd had enough and stuck her thumb in her mouth and rolled over, funniest thing ever.

We're pregnant!

We've kinda sorta talked for awhile that maybe it was time to start thinking about kids. I have a uterine anomaly called uterus didelphyis which makes conceiving a bit trickier and going full-term damn near impossible.
We'd been off birth control for awhile and nothing happening, so I made an appointment with a local perinatologist that a friend recommended because her friend had a similar issue and he is apparently a miracle worker and she was pregnant in just a few months after seeing him.
I had Veteran's Day off, so I make a pre-pregnancy consult with him and we discussed how a pregnancy would go and how often I would see him. He gave me a name of an OB/Gyn here in Kyle. Then he said something that I wasn't expecting. He told me to go home and take a pregnancy test and call him back to schedule my first appointment during Christmas Break.
I thought he was full of crap, so laughing, I call my friend (same as above) and tell HER what he said. We were planning on going to lunch that day, so A says stop by my place, I have plenty of pregnancy tests! Funny, but ok.
Drive over to her place, she's got it all laid out in the water closet and tells me if it's gonna ruin my day, don't do it. I, still thinking Dr. B is full of crap, say WTH, let's get it over with.
Boy would you imagine my surprise when that second line popped up!
I called Jordan and he just kept saying No. I kept saying YES, lol. So, we're pregnant, and he's convinced it's a boy. :D

Sorry!

So it's been awhile :D My computer broke and I kept thinking that next week I was gonna get it fixed...then it was a year later. I'm going to try to better about keeping this up to date from here on out.

We're going to the Ranger game tonight, last night they traded our up-and-coming first baseman for the league's best pitcher and he's starting today.

I'll catch up on pictures and posts over the next few days or weeks.
This Tuesday I am taking a test to be Highly Qualified in high school Life Sciences, then in another two weeks or so I will be taking a general science test that will qualify me to teach all sciences in high school and I'm in the process of trying to get a job, so it may be a few weeks before I'm back, but I'll be back.

Too many dogs in the house

My MIL's dog passed a few weeks ago and her birthday is 7/5 so SIL and hubby decided she needed a new puppy. He's been looking online and in shelters and found a weiner and maybe basset mix who is SO precious. He now lives with us after a short jaunt to Southlake with SIL's wallet. The brings the total to 2 6 month olds and 1 4 yr old. No one should have to live with 2 puppies in a house this small. He is a looker, though. He is incredibly sweet and gentle and has the unfortunate luck to be named Sonic. We were going to rename him, but he answers to Sonic and I feel bad moving him 2 times in 3 weeks and changing his name. If I had a bigger house, we would have more dogs, the rescue group had a pair of pure Beagle siblings that were found in their owners house, but owner had been dead 2 weeks before the relatives found him and them. They were beautiful Beagles and I'm sure they are going to be separated and that is going to break their hearts :( But anyway, we now have Shortstop, Sonic, and Maris, and when mom and co go to Yellowstone next week we will add Stormy, Dirk, and Hunter to the mix. That is a lot of dogs and only two of us.

Jordan's Graduation

My wonderful husband graduated at 9am on May 16. He recieved his BBA in Finance and is going to get an MS in Finance within the next few years. I'm very proud of both of us for going back to school. This past year has been hard, financially and emotionally, but we did it! Jordan is looking for a job, but with the economy the way it is, it's tough going for a finance major. I'm spending my summer babysitting my handsome nephew and then will jump in with both feet for next semester. Jordan had a 4.0 this semester and I managed a 3.55 so I feel like I have a good jump on next semester. I finally have my good study habits back and feel like I can take on the world. We have discussed both of us getting alternate teaching certificates to fall back on, if needed. I have just about convinced him to go talk to the prinicipal at AHS and see if she can help him get a job this coming school year, then he could teach and get his master's at the same time.
But, back to graduation! After the ceremony we had a party at Katie's house. Jordan's dad brought subs, cokes, and chips, and mom had provided chicken salad from Main St Cafe (to die for!!!) dips, cake (my first decorating attempt, not a fan of fondant, but it still looks kinda cool) and stuff. Unfortunately it rained all day Saturday so our great indoor/outdoor party was all indoor. I think everyone had a good time, though. It was mostly my family that showed up, several of Jordan's friends had to work that day, but also his parents (all 3 of 'em) and sister attended. Then we went to his dad's house and some of his family and his dad's friends were there. Also several frat brother's showed up with some beer. We also went to Ft. Worth and had some great fun with lots of friends and a few cousins.
I am so proud of my husband!!! Congratulations to the class of 2009!
